What is life: State of the nation

Hmm, I don't really post here anymore, having switched over primarily to Dreamwidth.

However, I don't post much there either.

Is trying for the post a day thing again, it seems.

Quiz was okay. Knew what I was doing for once. But did mix things up a little. Loaned out pens, decided dinner was more important that sticking around though.

NEED to work on that essay. It's such a pain that I've stalled out again because there's no motivation for work to be done. Need to start studying for everything. Go over the questions, and chapters. Work on linking things to memory. Need a way to recall stuff too. Should look into that.

Ah, the sweet taste of... wait.

I want tea. Tea, tea, tea. Was in class from 8:30, and woke up, and semi-slept since 4:07 or so in the morning. It was my fault. Someone was moving around upstairs, and then I realized that I hadn't actually eaten anything more than crackers for dinner.

Need to break up those bad habits. And oh, such fun, a quiz tonight for stats. (Studies some more.) Hmm, at least I have time to work on my essay as well as read the text and try and understand what's going on with the SPSS output.

Need to go over how to make charts and such.

Now, back to work.

Oh look, more delayed stuff

Oh a whole lot of fronts, things are getting busy, busy, busy. Discovery Cafe was done for the year, starting up again next year though! Fun times. We only really have one member who shows up consistently. But still. What we do discuss... we cover a lot of topics.

A day late and unrepentant

Last night, I went off to see a performance of "The Importance of Being Earnest" which one of my housemates was acting in. (The butlers!!) It was a great rendition, very real. I had such a fun time, even though I only got back at midnight or so.

Thrice and thrice has it been said...

Next time I agree to a movie, I should make sure it's at a time that won't leave me incapale of fully appreciating it. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1. What to say? Great cinematics, the composer, who I'm guessing is still Nicholas Hooper, I love how he favours the wind instruments in his music. I love, love, love the high winds. The flutes especially. Bias? Not I. Except totally.

One thing? A villian need not always look evil, or ugly, or diseased. Just throwing that out there! I was disillusioned about a lot of things recently, and ads in movies and the pre-show stuff was one of them. Had to look for the car commercial, didn't find one, but the shampoo one made up for it. The plot itself was great, emotional punches were used very, very well. And whoo! An author who is killing off a lot of her characters! Mostly off-screen, but there were very poignant death scenes. Everyone seemed to have taken classes in awesome.

Not speaking of the movie, a dream last night, where I had to strip off in order to climb into a kitchen sink and cut vegetables. I have no idea where that came from.

Cats and Dogs and mess oh my.

Dreaming: There was a cat yowl at 5:58 AM or so. Why, I don't know, but since I heard it once, and nobody else did anything, I assume it was all in my head.

There was also a bit where we were living out in an apartment complex with a shared bathroom, and there were two families who owned multitudes of dogs. Yorkies, poms, spaniels, boxers, you name it. All over the place, and most were lying around, or overweight. The lady was looking for one of them, and I said that it might have been next door, amidst the other dogs, and she thanked me, we chatted a bit, and then I tried to enter the bathroom to shower, only to find a dog running between my legs and a a little girl running after.

There was also a segment with two people visiting, at my house, they came in, turned their noses up at the breakfast selection and opted for yogurt.

Some things are hard to believe

The fact that midterms are OVER is one of them. I mean, catch up on work, finish projects that are due... that's all that's left to do before finals. *Wow, those are approaching crazily fast.*

I need to get my act together. I haven't been doing much, and I desperately need to catch up on Organic chemistry work. Three chapters behind already. THREE. That's hours of time. *Gulps*

Need to sleep better. May be too caustic otherwise.

Haven't Done One of These in a While

So dreams... two really clear ones. With the addition of a cat in the house, I was woken up by fail!whispering at around 3 in the morning. I sort of got angry and grumpy and started plotting angry faced doodles in my brain. I must have fell back asleep soon after, as I dreamt that the housemates were finally going to bed around 4, but one was puttering around and disposing of garbage, while another was playing their guitar. I threw open my door and bitched at the cleaning person to tell the other guy to shove his guitar in the closet. Then I felt vindicated, looking back, I feel horribly mortified. Thank heavens it was a dream.

Also, had another segment where there were two groups of people split into teams. I think it was my organic chemistry class, but I'm not very sure. The game we were playing was some form of charades, and the two teams were tied with only time left for one more round. The word was GPS. The leader told us to try to guess Global Positioning System. And the start of both teams were going what? Did he just say the answer? So someone on the other team asked if he said GPS. They were considered the winners, but I'd quietly pointed out that the word had been revealed, mostly I was ignored. But things got to a point where they needed to be sorted out.

Cat-Napped! The Forgone conclusion

It wasn't the cat. It looked right, but was actually another stray. Much too thin. So we've unofficially adopted a cat for the duration of whenever animal control comes by to pick it up.

It can really raise a ruckus when it wants to.

Also: Raccoons.

I want to draw little cartoons of me grumpy and sleep deprived. It shall be sadly not epic.

Cat-Napped!

I'd been sick lately, but I've found that bed rest are two words that I have trouble remembering. It was a case of the sniffles. I felt like a leaky faucet, and my throat killed me for all of a week.

Today: I heard meowing and sort of freaked a little cause I thought it was in the house. It wasn't. As soon as I opened the door outside to check for sure, a sleek black and white cat streaked in and sort of wouldn't leave. It's been here for three hours now. Left and came back actually. We fed it, which may have been a mistake. We've got a repeat customer!

It doesn't seem to be a real stray, seeming to match the missing cat posters up around the place. Waiting for a call back.

Stretched, like butter over too much bread

I couldn't resist.

Hectic, hectic week what with labs, and quizzes appearing left and right along with essay writing and major projects. At least I'm eating now.

Same Old, Same Old

Got through the chapter questions for orgo. Need to study now.

Made soup for dinner. Added too much water, but fixable with chicken broth stock. And salt.

Lyric choice

**She Don't Want the World can be such a Mal song**

1. (Don't Fear) the Reaper ~ Blue Oyster Cult
Seasons don't fear the reaper
Nor do the wind, the sun or the rain
[We can be like they are]
Come on baby
[Don't fear the reaper]
Baby take my hand

2. Letting Go ~ Project Divinity
{Instrumental}

3. Angel ~ Sarah MacLachlan
Oh beautiful release
Memory seeps from my veins
Let me be empty
And weightless and maybe
I’ll find some peace tonight
In the arms of an angel

4. Call Me ~ Shinedown
I finally put it all together,
But nothing really lasts forever
I had to make a choice that was not mine,
I had to say goodbye for the last time

5. With a Little Help (From my Friends) ~ The Beatles
What would you think if I sang out of tune,
Would you stand up and walk out on me.
Lend me your ears and I'll sing you a song,
And I'll try not to sing out of key.
Oh I get by with a little help from my friends,
Mmm,I get high with a little help from my friends,
Mmm, I'm gonna try with a little help from my friends.

6. To Where You Are ~ Josh Groban
Fly me up to where you are
Beyond the distant star
I wish upon tonight
To see you smile
If only for awhile to know you’re there
A breath away’s not far
To where you are

7. O Death ~ Ralph Stanley
Well I am death, none can excel
I'll open the door to heaven or hell
Whoa, death someone would pray
Could you wait to call me another day

8. My Boy Builds Coffins ~ Florence + the Machines
My boy builds coffins he makes them all day,
But it's not just for work and it isn't for play.
He's made one for himself,
One for me too.
One of these days he'll make one for you.

9. Seasons in the Sun ~ Terry Jacks
Goodbye my friend, it's hard to die,
when all the birds are singing in the sky,
Now that the spring is in the air.
Pretty girls are everywhere.
When you see them I'll be there.
We had joy, we had fun, we had seasons in the sun.
But the hills that we climbed
were just seasons out of time.

10. Dust in the Wind ~ Kansas
Now, don't hang on
nothing last forever
but the earth and sky
it slips away
And all your money
won't another minute buy

11. Never Let Go ~ Josh Groban
Forced apart by time and sand.
Take a step and take my hand.
And don't let it go.
Never let go.

12. Ethereal Awakening ~ Frozen Silence
{Instrumental}

*Mumbles a bit, before burying head in imaginary pillow*

Early mornings to night class. Argh. Needs a nap. I think the questioning could have gone better. Argh. I feel like my eyes have reached the point where they want to close, but can't. The boat has sailed, the chance has gone. K-Unit's over! *Dances*

I dunno if my typos are a result of tiredness or long nails. There was something else I wanted to say, but I can't recall. I have a crap memory. Like a goldfish! Typing up the essay, thoughts are all there, but too tired to really put things in order. Blarghhh.

All the blood in the world isn't enough to appease that lot. (On Gods. This isn't a quote, but I want to see it used somewhere. One day)

The Sandman’s coming in his train of cars
With moonbeam windows and with wheels of stars
So hush you little ones and have no fear
The man in the moon he is the engineer
The railroad track it is a moonbeam bright
That leads right up into the starry night
So come you little ones and run up the stairs
Put on your ‘jamas and say your prayers
And ride with Mr. Sandman
Ride with Mr. Sandman
‘Til daylight comes again
An you’ll see all the wonders of wonderland
In the Sandman’s Train

Whirlwind Romances-- I lie, there is no love.

Discovery cafe meeting where everyone talked about anything and everything. Science was a very, very thin excuse used to sit down, talk and eat food. (Food!)

Gah! Tomorrow's the big day for 2290 K-unit. Presentations, questions and interviews/poster session. All that work coming together. It's a little daunting. But the stress... the stress. It had better be worth it.

Yes, it is September, not February. Remember this. Mind, where have you gone?

Sep. 28th, 2010

So let's sit down and let ol' Bandit run

Funny the people you run into. I saw C.L.'s parents and brother at Talbot College today. He was here for an oboe audition, perhaps he's trying to get into UWO's music program?

Good news, the K-unit is coming to an end!! Freedom from group work. *Happy, happy face.*

So Much to Do, No Time to Get There.

There's an essay to start, and I think I've got the points laid out. Need to go into the readings and find supporting information.

Also: Make up my mind about whether I'm going swing dancing at 7 tomorrow or not.

Group get together to finalize all the poster stuff. Layout, etc.

Do my stats reading. I'm behind. But I'm doing the work, so that's something. Look up and review IQR calculations.

I'm Dizzy in a Tizzy

And rather lost when it comes to terms of what the heck is going on. My head's not on straight, which is not a good thing. I think I'm gonna break down and just snap soon. Too much stress too soon.

Not much special today, just more of the same. Except I know I'm antsy without my computer now.
